STILP GENIUS ON DISPLAY WITH BID FOR NUMBER TWO
When money talks, Gene Stilp listens. But he does not blindly obey. I wanted him to run for Governor in any way possible. THE CAD wanted him to run for Governor as a bipartisan write-in candidate. But Gene, a genuinely humble man, thought Lieutenant Governor was enough. I disagree, but I will gratefully accept my hero's decision.
The Lieutenant Governor's Office is a great steppingstone to a lucrative corporate lobbying career, as former Lieutenant Governors Ernie Kline, Mark Singel, and Mark Schweiker can all attest. Neither Milton Shapp nor Bob Casey made any big bucks after their careers as Governor ended, but their number twos really cleaned up. Similary, when Tom Ridge was Secretary of Homeland Security, his former number two, Mark Schweiker was earning more than TWICE Ridge's salary as President of the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. Gene ought to pay a visit to Schweiker and start checking out the furniture at the Chamber in case he, too, winds up there.
But I digress. The Lieutenant Governor's Office is really great. It has a great balcony from Gene can wave to Clean Sweep protestors at future annual demonstrations. And the Lieutenant Governor's house in Annville is far superior to the Governor's Mansion in Harrisburg. It is a fitting place for a prospective plutocrat like Gene to plan his marketing of pink pigs throughout the world. To become a plutocrat, you have to want to live like a plutocrat, and the Lieutenant Governor's residence is the place to begin to do that.
Further, it has great self-promotion opportunities. Gene can work throughut his tenure to abolish the office as unnecessary and wasteful. Hopefully, he can time it so that the abolition of the office takes place after his tenure there is completed and he has milked the job for all it is worth.
Can any rival possibly stop Gene's quest for prominence and good living? Cathy Baker Knoll, Joe Hoeffel, and Valerie McDonald are also in the race, but none are a match for Gene's creativity and flair. Once Gene gets on the ballot, they all just ought to withdraw in his favor. They should know by now that plutocracy united will never be defeated!
