INQUIRER STABS STILP IN BACK; BOYCOTT SUGGESTED
THE CAD read the Sunday Inquirer on May 7, and hit the roof. They editorially oppposing Gene Stilp for Lieuenant Governor because they didn't want him to "lose his effectiveness" as an advocate for what I consider to be cheap and disposable government.
"How dare they, " he foamed. "We've got to destroy them if if it's the last thing we do."
I tried to play the peacemaker. "Look," I said. "You instituted a Capital Strike against both Stilp and Diamond because they are not getting their act together. If there was no Capital
Strike, then Stilp would look like a sure winner and the Inky would have no choice but to endorse him."
THE CAD was not in an introspective mood. "We plutocrats can spend our hard-earned and inherited money any way we want to," he fumed. No matter how we spend our money, they have to be principled. Naming him, Potts and Diamond "Citizens of the Year" in December and calling for his defeat in May; IT'S OUTRAGEOUS."
"So what should be done about it?"
"BOYCOTT THE BASTARDS. The are not only pious phonies, they are contemptible. Should there be more pay raises in Pennsylvania, Stilp ought to be leading the charge in favor of them in order to get their attention. They should get the works: a visit from a Stilp pig or two,
plus a circulation boycott, plus an ad boycott. They are in a lot of trouble now, and we can bring them to thier kneees with a TOTAL BOYCOTT of them."
So spoke the CAD, and phone calls and emails immediately flooded us. But Stilp was unbowed. "As Jone Paul Jones said,"Stilp commented, " Don't give up the ship."
